Congratulations to all the winners in the summer championship this past weekend. Sunday was a beautiful day for golf. I hope everyone had a great time.
Today we are going to get drenched with rain. We plan on slicing greens to allow for some gas exchange in to the greens subsurface, minimal impact to play. We will also be installing a drain at the turn on #7. This area is always wet so we will be taking care of this problem today. Once again, minimal to no impact to play.
If you are interested in the behind the scenes of the U.S. Open then you might want to follow me on Twitter. I will be re-tweeting all the videos and pictures from my colleagues that are volunteering at Merion. If I would have known that our weather was going to be like this I would have committed to work at Merion this year. Story of a superintendents life, dependent on weather.
